The 15th Annual Chicago Sixteen Inch Hall of Fame Induction Banquet
was held on April 2, 2011 at Drury Lane in Oakbrook Terrace with
more than seven hundred people in attendance. The evenings program
was opened by Tim Maher who read his heart felt story of sixteen
inch softball and growing up in Chicago that he uses to open his
broadcast on the internet with before introducing George Bliss
who served as Master of Ceremonies and kept the evenings program
moving at a respectable pace.
Ron Kubicki president of the Chicago Sixteen Inch Hall of Fame
welcomed all those in attendance and also individually welcomed
the sponsors of this evening's gala event. Kubicki went on to
ask for a moment of silence to remember all the great Hall of
Famer's who have passed on and for all the US troops doing their
part so that we back here at home on Chicago can enjoy the freedom
of having such a great reunion of softball players to honor the
best of the best. Kubicki went on to announce that the Chicago
Sixteen Inch Hall of Fame will putting together care packages
for our troops overseas that will include sixteen inch softballs
and bats but 'No Gloves'. Kubicki closed his remarks with a reminder
of the 2nd Annual Chicago Sixteen Inch Hall of Fame World Series
that will be held at the Forest Park softball complex in Forest
Park on August 26 - 28, 2011.
The evenings first award went to Lane Tech High School for winning
the Chicago Public League Sixteen Inch title with a perfect 27-0
record including 22 win by the run rule.
Bliss said, "16-inch softball was added as a competitive
sport in the Chicago Public Schools in 1999. They have played
12 seasons and Lane Tech has won the title eight of those years".
Lane Tech is coached by George Stavrakas and their award was accepted
by their team captain who said, "Maybe one day one of these
kids up here will be honored with an induction into your Hall

Ron Kubicki closed
the evening program with a reminder that Sunday July 24, 2011
is induction day at 'Inductee Park' for this year's inductee's
and the public is welcome in Forest Park. Kubicki closed by thank
all of those (over 700 people) that came out this evening for
their support of the hall of fame.
Bliss thanked Drury Lane for a wonderful evening and their support
in this year hall of fame induction banquet
The evening's 50/50 raffle was worth over $1100 to the winner
who graciously donated half of his winnings back to the Chicago
Sixteen Inch Hall of Fame.
