Crush Wins Miller Lite/ USSSA Class E

Double Dips Northwest Pallet/Logo King/Boombah In The Finals

CRYSTAL LAKE: Crush (4-1) won the six team USSSA Men's Class E Miller Lite Tournament at Lippold Park in Crystal Lake on June 11th & 12th by double dipping North West Pallet/Logo King/Boomba (2-2) 10-6 and 12-8 in the championship contests. Crush earned a berth to play at the USSSA Men's Class E National to be held over Labor Day Weekend in Waterloo, Iowa. Legacy (3-2) finished in third place with Fatty's Pub (2-2) taking home fourth place from this tournament.
Crush received a first round bye before taking on and defeating Fatty's Pub by a final score of 12-2 in the second round of action. Fatty's Pub had advanced to the second round by defeating the Wild Boys 22-7 in the first round of tournament play.
Crush than lost the winner's bracket finals to Northwest Pallet/Logo King/Boombah by a single run 90-8 to drop them into the loser's bracket championship game where they met and defeated Legacy 13-6 to earn a second shot at both Northwest Pallet/Logo King/Boombah and the tournament title.
Crush relished at the chance of getting a little revenge on the team that had put them into the loser's bracket and beat them 10-6 to force the playing of the 'if necessary game' in order to determine which of these two teams would take home the top prize from this tournament.
In that extra game Crush took another revenge shot at Northwest Pallet/Logo King/Boombah as they sent them home in second place after beating the Northwest Pallet/Logo King/Boombah ball club 12-8 in the deciding game of the tournament.
Crush did not provide Illinois Softball Report with any team information, stats, highlights or quotes on how they were able to win this tournament.
Tournament runner up Northwest Pallet/Logo King/Boombah also opened tournament play with a first round bye before taking on and defeating Legacy 10-5 in the second round of tournament action. Legacy had advanced by defeating Jiffy Lube/Culver Goats 4-0 in the first round of play.
Northwest Pallet/Logo King/Boombah than became the only undefeated team left in this tournament when they stopped Crush 9-8 in the winner's bracket finals.
Northwest Pallet/Logo King/Boombah now had to sit and wait until the loser's bracket was complete before they would know which one of the remaining teams would be their challenger in the tournament finals. Crush turned out to be that team as the finals pairings were now set.
Northwest Pallet/Logo King/Boombah needing to win only one of two games to win this tournament had the table turned on them in the first game as Crush evened the tournament records at one loss each after posting a 10-6 win over Northwest Pallet/Logo King/Boombah onto the bracket board.
In the deciding 'if necessary game' it was Northwest Pallet/Logo King/Boombah on the short end of a 12-8 score as they lost to Crush for a second time and were forced to accept second place from this tournament.
Northwest Pallet/Logo King/Boombah did not supply Illinois Softball Report with any team information, stats, highlights or quotes on how they were able to finish in second place at this tournament.
