Miller 45's Win North / South Challenge

BERWYN: The reigning national champions Miller 45's showed the rest of the sixteen inch softball world that they are still the number one team winning the thirty-two team North / South Challenge with a perfect 6-0 record and the top prize of two thousand dollars. Flash (5-2) finished in second place taking home one thousand dollars, Binge (4-2) was third earning seven hundred dollars, March Manufacturing (6-2) took home fourth place which included a prize of five hundred dollars, tying for fifth place were the Young Guns (5-2) and the Rebels (3-2) with both teams earning two hundred and fifty dollars each with Bucketheads (4-2) and Steel Gold (3-2) finishing in a tie for seventh place which paid one hundred fifty dollars each. The tournament also offered one paid ASA National Berth, to the highest finishing team that did not have a berth yet and both the Rebels & Young Guns tied for this prize with the Young Guns conceding the berth to the Rebels by not wanted to play a one game play-off for that berth on Sunday afternoon.
The Miller 45's opened tournament play on Friday night with a 13-1 win over Wallace. Their next game was on Saturday afternoon when they met and defeated the Outsiders by a final score of 14-6. The Outsiders had advanced into this game by posting a first round win on Thursday night over Traffic by a score of 6-5.
Late on Saturday afternoon the Miller 45's met and defeated Nemesis 17-4 to improve their tournament record to 3-0. Nemesis made it to the third round of the winner's bracket by defeating Red Star 13-9 on Thursday evening and than posting a 23-9 win over Finger Lickin' Good on Saturday afternoon.
On Sunday afternoon the Miller 45's played their semifinal game in the winner's bracket and defeated Flash 7-3 to move into the winner's bracket finals.
In the showdown between the last two remaining unbeaten teams the Miller 45's squared off with Binge on Sunday afternoon with the Miller '45's coming out on top by a final score of 11-8. Binge made it to the winner's bracket championship game by opening play with a 5-4 win over the Bucketheads on Thursday evening. On Saturday Binge added two more scalps to the possession as they played and defeated the Lemonheads 12-11 on Saturday afternoon. The Lemonheads had advanced to this game by stopping Hype 8-5 in the first round on Friday night. Next Binge met and defeated the Lobcocks 7-3 to move into Sunday semifinal game of the winner's bracket. The Lobcocks had posted two wins onto the bracket board to earn their way into this game as they had beaten the Longshots 15-0 on Friday night. The Lobcocks had also won their first contest on Saturday by defeating the Snappers 4-3
