Shala Farms Wins USSSA Class E In Aurora

Five Team, One Day Tournament At Turners Club On May 7th

AURORA: Shala Farms from Naperville won the five team USSSA Men's Class E qualifier played at Turners Club in Aurora on May 7th with a perfect 3-0 record. The champions defeated I.B.E.W. # 461 (3-2) from Aurora in the championship game with Tony Weeds Pizza (2-2) from Aurora taking home third place.
Shala Farms opened tournament play by posting a big 15-3 win over Tony Weeds Pizza onto the bracket board. In their second contest Shala Farms squared off with I.B.E.W. # 461 with Shala Farms coming out on top 16-11 moving them into the championship game against whichever team would emerge from the loser's bracket to challenge them in the finals. Shala farms now was able to sit back and relax as the loser's bracket was played out to its conclusion and when it was over a rematch with I.B.E.W. # 461 awaited Shala Farms in the championship contest. Shala Farms complete their undefeated run through the field of five teams at this tournament with a 7-5 win to claim the title.

Tournament runner-up I.B.E.W. # 461 opened tournament play with an 18-3 win over the Aurora Police in a play in game to get to the bracket. Game number two was also win number two as the I.B.E.W. # 461 softball team stopped Top Gun from Aurora 13-2. I.B.E.W. than dropped the game between the tournaments last two unbeaten teams losing to Shala Farms 16-11.
I.B.E.W. now needed to defeat Tony Weeds Pizza in order to get a second chance at Shala Farms and the tournament title and that is exactly what they did as they defeated Tony Weeds Pizza 8-0 to move into the tournaments championship game. I.B.E.W. # 461 dream of coming back to double dip the team that had beaten them earlier in the day ended here as Shala Farms stopped I.B.E.W. # 461 in the title game 7-5 to send the union workers home with second place.
